Back to Is it a Scam?

Is it a Scam? ("we", "us") is run by Customer Experience Insight Pty Ltd, ABN 61 634 039 759, in Australia. This page explains in plain language what we collect when you use www.ekselensia.com, what we keep, and your choices. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

The short version

  • You need an account to check text, images or audio.
  • We do not save the text, images or audio you submit in our database. Typed text stays in this tab until you clear it or close the tab. A chosen photo or recording stays in this browser until you clear the selection or clear this site's data.
  • We keep your sign-in details, your check balance, a one-way hash of your verified email, and short labels when content is blocked.
  • We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

What we collect

Your account. When you sign up or sign in with Google or by email, our sign-in provider, Clerk, collects your email address, and your name and profile picture if you use Google. Clerk also keeps session and security information such as when and where you signed in.

Your checks. To apply your check allowance we store, against your account, how many checks you have left, when free checks and bought checks expire, and short counters for how many checks you have made in the current minute and, on a paid plan, in the current day. We store a one-way hash of your verified email address so the free checks can be given only once. We do not store that email address in this record. When a check is blocked for safety reasons we record the type of input, a short label for why, and the time. We never store the content itself in these records.

What you submit. The text, image or audio you submit is processed to produce a result and is not saved in our database. Typed text stays in this tab until you clear it or close the tab, including after you sign in. A chosen photo or recording stays in this browser until you clear the selection or clear this site's data. Closing the tab takes the file off the page. See "Who processes it" below, because a check is sent to AI services while we analyse it. If typed text suggests someone may be in danger, we email that text to our team so they can follow the safety process. Photos and recordings are not included in that email.

Technical data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies. We use cookies that keep you signed in and protect your session. We do not use advertising cookies.

Contact. If you send us a message through the contact page, we receive the details you enter, such as your name, email, topic and message, through our form provider, Formspree.

Payment. If you subscribe or buy a pack of checks, Stripe collects your payment details. We store a Stripe customer id, whether your plan is free or paid, and the payment reference for a bought pack. We do not store your card number.

Why we use it

  • To let you sign in and use the checker.
  • To apply fair-use limits and keep the service safe, including blocking harmful content.
  • To respond to your enquiries.
  • To keep the service secure and working.
  • To take payment and keep your plan in step with your subscription.

Who processes it

We use service providers to run the site. They handle information only to provide their service to us.

  • Clerk: sign-in and account management.
  • Stripe: subscription and pack payments, invoices and the billing portal. Stripe stores your card details.
  • Vercel: hosting, logs and the AI Gateway that connects us to AI models.
  • AI model providers, reached through the Vercel AI Gateway (currently Google and OpenAI): they receive the text, image or audio you submit so they can analyse it, and return a result.
  • Neon: the database that holds check balances and safety labels.
  • A content-safety classification service, where we have enabled one, which receives submitted text.
  • Formspree: delivery of contact messages to us.

Some of these providers are based or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the service you understand your information may be handled there.

How long we keep it

We keep account records for as long as your account is active. Check balances stay so we can apply the allowance, and we do not delete them on a fixed schedule. Safety labels are kept for 90 days, then removed on the weekly cleanup, unless a legal hold keeps a record longer. We keep contact messages for as long as needed to respond and to keep business records. Stripe keeps payment records under its own terms. We keep the Stripe customer id and plan while the account exists.

Children

This is a family-friendly service and we block sexual, violent and hateful content. Children under 13 should not create an account. If you believe a child has created one, contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can manage your sign-in details in your account menu on the site. To delete your account or ask a question, use our contact formand choose "Privacy request". If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

Security and changes

We use reputable providers and limit what we store, but no system is completely secure. If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page.
